The Community Engagement Program assists individuals 18 and older to participate entirely in the community in groups of 1 – 3 individuals between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

This program is designed to support and foster the ability of the individual to acquire, retain, or improve skills necessary to build positive social behavior, preparation for employment, interpersonal skills, greater independence and personal choice necessary to access typical activities and functions of community life, using the community as the natural learning environment.

This program also focuses on building relationships with people who are not paid to work with the individuals and it may include volunteer work, continuing education, accessing community facilities. Community facilities include local libraries , gyms, or recreation center. It is also inclusive of participation in retirement or senior activities, bowling, going to the mall to shop, movies, festivals, ballet, and anything else people with and without disabilities do in their time off from work.
